PetrolManiac's analytics are built on prices that are already public: completed auction results and openly listed asking prices. We aggregate them into per-model statistics — averages, medians, trends — so buyers and enthusiasts can see the market as a whole. This page explains where that data comes from and how we treat it.
We record publicly visible facts about vehicles offered for sale: model, year, price (labeled as sold or asking), date, condition category and country. We aggregate market facts; we do not collect personal data about sellers, and we distinguish confirmed sale prices from asking prices throughout the site.
Enthusiast auction platforms
Online collector car auctions in the US, UK and Europe (e.g. Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids, Collecting Cars).
Traditional auction houses
Published results from established houses (e.g. RM Sotheby's, Bonhams, Gooding & Co).
European marketplaces and classifieds
Public asking-price listings across European markets (e.g. mobile.de, AutoScout24, Car & Classic and national classified sites).
Japanese market sources
Public listing and auction-result data relevant to the JDM market (e.g. Yahoo JP Auctions).
Aggregators and price guides
Publicly accessible aggregate market references used for cross-checking.
We continuously review sources for freshness and terms-of-service compatibility; sources that do not meet our policy are excluded from the pipeline.
Individual records shown on the site are labeled with their source, and where an original listing or auction result page exists we link back to it. Aggregated statistics (averages, trends, indices) are computed by PetrolManiac across many sources.
All vehicle manufacturer names, model names and logos, and all marketplace and auction house names mentioned on this site are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used solely to identify vehicles and data provenance; PetrolManiac is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
If you operate a source platform and have questions about how your data appears here, or if you are a seller and want a specific record corrected or removed, email data@petrolmaniac.com with a link to the record. We respond to removal requests promptly.
